WY Monthly Backgammon 2026
There will be 12 monthly rounds to be held at Cowcliffe Liberal Club, 181 Netheroyd Hill Rd, Cowcliffe, Huddersfield HD2 2LZ
Due to venue size we can only accommodate up to 17 players
All monthly tournaments will start at 12.00pm prompt. Last registrations taken 15 minutes before start times.
PLEASE NOTE:- Registration must be done by email. I will send a pre-registration email 14 days prior to event date and should we get more than 17 entries priority will be given to players that have attended 50% or more of the previous 12 monthly events. If there are less than 17 entries from the priority players then places will be given on a first come first served basis. A further email will be sent 7 days prior to event and should there still be space's these shall be given on a first come first served basis.
In 2026 there will be 3 individual periods (Jan-Apr, May-Aug, Sep-Dec)
At the end of each period there will be prize money (see tables below) awarded to the top 3 players.
Each period will start afresh giving all players an equal chance of cashing.
Points will be accumulated as follows for both period and annual leagues: -
4 wins (no byes) = 2 points, 3 wins + 1 bye win = 1.5 points, 3 wins = 1 point, 2 wins + 1 bye win = 0.5 points.
In the event of tied players in period leagues prizes will be shared equally.
This year there will also be 3 added money events (April, August and December)
Period and added money prizes will be financed by the excess collected from registrations and rakes after admin/venue costs are deducted.
As the money used to fund this competition is coming from registration fees (i.e. the more events you attend the more you contribute) there will be an eligibility criteria*.
*To qualify for period and added money prizes players must attend at least 2 events in the relevant period
Entry fees
£5 registration, £20 entry
100% pay-out less 10% (rounded) for period and added money prizes
On the day prize monies (4 wins = 47.5%, 3 wins = 37.5%, 0-2 winner 5%) all rounded
Optional side pools (100% pay-out, winner takes all but deals can be made)
2nd chance entry for players winning 3 matches
Entry fee for this is included in entry fee with an optional £10 side pool.
